How to promote your website for free
A practical starting point for sharing a useful website: clear messaging, a free Frontlane listing, relevant communities and honest traffic measurement.
Start with a clear website description, publish a free listing, share it where the intended audience already asks relevant questions, and measure visits that lead to useful actions.
Make the destination useful first
Before sharing a URL, check that the website opens on a phone, explains who it helps and offers a clear next step. A directory visit is only the beginning: a confusing landing page can lose someone who was interested enough to click. Use a product name people can recognize and a short explanation of the problem it solves.
Publish a free Frontlane listing
Open the directory and choose “Add your website · Free.” Enter your public URL. Frontlane looks for the website name, description and shared image or favicon, then shows a preview. Check the suggested details, choose the most relevant category and confirm that you own or are authorized to list the website. Free publication does not require a card or a payment.
Write for a specific audience
“Tools for everyone” says little about a product. A description such as “Turn customer questions into a searchable help centre for a small support team” gives someone a reason to investigate. Describe a real capability and intended audience. Avoid claims about visitor numbers, search rankings or customer results that you cannot substantiate.
Share where the website answers a real question
Choose communities that match the product’s purpose. Read their posting rules, disclose your connection to the website and explain why it is relevant. A useful walkthrough, example or answer can give readers more context than a link alone. Repeating the same promotional message across unrelated discussions is unlikely to build trust.
Measure interest rather than just position
Frontlane’s optional owner dashboard reports estimated listing impressions and outbound clicks over seven or thirty days. It does not measure total traffic on your website, sales or signups. Use your own destination analytics to assess those outcomes. Compare changes to the message or landing page rather than treating a paid or free position as a guarantee of results.
Keep the listing accurate
Free listings are ordered by original submission time, newest first. Submitting the same URL again does not refresh its position. Verified domain owners can update the name, description and category in the owner dashboard. Ask support about removal, shared-platform profiles or a correction you cannot make yourself.
Try it on Frontlane
Open the directory to list your website. Review the listing rules, refund policy and FAQ. Questions? Contact support.
